Goodbyes

I woke feeling so melancholic and sad this morning. At 4.30 on Thursday morning I’m taking Kate and Ellie to Auckland airport – both are going to Mount Hope in Indonesia with a team from church for ten days, and then Kate is going on to Cambodia for six months. I will pick Ellie up from the airport when she returns and… read more | 5 Comments
Old Treasures

I love old things. Old washing boards, woodstove irons, trivets, cast iron pots, old utensils, ragged lace, delicately painted cups and saucers, wooden rolling pins and clothes pegs, battered leather suitcases, black and white photographs, old linen, stencilled wooden nail boxes…I love them! Peony still hasn’t produced her foal, despite coming into milk around New Year, and she still looks small. She must have lost the foal sometime in the pregnancy. It’s very disappointing. We’re not sure what to do now… read more | 2 Comments

Still No Foal

Peony is now ten days over, having missed the opportunity to foal on Christmas Day, New year’s Eve, and the first day of 2012! In fact people have been asking, “Are you sure she’s even pregnant?’ because she looks so small. But today she has started to bag up, and I can squeeze milk from her teat. Tonight she is lying down… read more | 2 Comments
Crowning the Year

Well, it’s been a long time since I last did a post – life has just been too busy! And as all the happenings happen, my garden is beginning to thrive – I even have my first hollyhocks! We’ve had a house full of visitors staying – still have 18 here at the moment. Christmas was a wonderful celebration of God’s gift of the Saviour with read more | 2 Comments
