Rosie’s thoughts

Here I share little tidbits to inspire and encourage you on your life’s journey.

The Most Rewarding Moments

This morning I spent some time reading through the journal that I kept for Samuel from conception onward – it was like being back there, watching my precious boy growing up, and remembering all the cute things he used to say. When he was asked at Kindy what was something that made him happy, he said, “Seeing my mummy makes me happy.’
Anyway I found a quote

Thoughts on Children and Ducklings

For what seems like ages three of our Indian Runner ducks have each been sitting on a clutch of eggs. And now I have 24 of the cutest little ducklings you ever did see! They look so gorgeous following their mums through the orchard. They co…me running whenever they see me, ignoring their mums cautionary quacks. But if the mothers make a certain urgent quack they fly

Friendship

Yesterday afternoon I read some of Robert Brault’s quotes out to Mum and she laughed and laughed at some of them. It was so lovely to hear her laughing like that. One of the ones that set her off was about friends, so I’ve decided today to… lump a few of his friendship quotes together.

“You never have a friend all figured out. Just when you think you

Quotes on Love

Okay, three quotes on love today, all by Robert Brault.

“Love is not about grand intentions. It is about small attentions.” (How true is that! My dad was very attentive to the small things)

“You don’t want to be someone looking for love. You want to be love looking for someone.”

“No relationship is perfect, which is why it is so important that it be loving.”… read more

The Big Things

Yesterday I was looking through some photos of my trip to the States and came across one that I took at my friends’ place in Texas. They had a quote written on their wall. And you know how I love quotes!
This one said, “Enjoy the little things for one day you may look back and realise they were the big things.”
How true is that!

La Vie est Belle

On Saturday I picked Mum up and brought her down to my place for the afternoon and dinner. As we drove here she said, “Life is beautiful! One minute I’m sitting in my chair, the next, I’m whisked away on an adventure, sitting in the car with you and eating an ice cream.”
What a blessing! Her words really touched me. Life surely is beautiful. If only

One Face

I’ve just read a beautiful paragraph in an old book by George MacDonald (the writer who inspired C. S Lewis).”I will tell those who will read, one of the good things that come of being married. It is, that there is one face upon which the changes come without your seeing them; or rather, there is one face which you can still see the same through all the shadows

My New Mission Field

For a while now I’ve wanted to write a post and introduce you to a few of my new friends. It’s been four months since Mum was admitted to Selwyn Park Hospital and I’ve been here pretty much every day for at least- three or four hours. I’ve got to know and love so many of the residents.

There’s Mrs

Your Life is like Music to Me

I found a box in Mum’s room the other day full of little notes from Dad. We’ve been looking through them together. Some of them made me cry. Mum has said I can share them with you. :) I know Dad wouldn’t mind me sharing a couple of things that give a beautiful glimpse into his relationship with Mum.

My days have been so busy since Dad died. Penny, Peter and I are trying to pick up the hours that Dad used to spend with Mum, as well as continuing the times we were doing at the hospital. All our lives seemed to have been placed ‘on hold’ as we try and settle into a new routine that demands at least an extra 15 hours a week. I absolutely… read more | 2 Comments
