Write in the Stolen Hours

I have stories to tell. Put in other words, I have a lot of hard work ahead of me. It’s a jolt into the real world of writing when you realise that each story, each book, is going to be a huge amount of work – blood, sweat and tears. Even though I have been [...]

Goodbyes

At 4.30 on Thursday morning I'm taking Kate and Ellie to Auckland airport - both are going to Mount Hope in Indonesia with a team from church for ten days, and then Kate is going on to Cambodia for six months. I will pick Ellie up from the airport when she returns and...

Old Treasures

Old washing boards, woodstove irons, trivets, cast iron pots, old utensils, ragged lace, delicately painted cups and saucers, wooden rolling pins and clothes pegs, battered leather suitcases, black and white photographs, old linen, stencilled wooden nail boxes…I love them! They somehow...

No Filly for Milly

She must have lost the foal sometime in the pregnancy. It's very disappointing. We're not sure what to do now...

The perfect balmy evening for a midsummer's music by candlelight on our front lawn - a fundraiser for Katie and Ellie who are both off on a mission's trip next week. (And the perfect evening for me to indulge in my passion for candles and lanterns. :)

Do Not Say…!

When God called young Jeremiah and appointed him as a prophet to the nations, Jeremiah responded with a familiar-sounding excuse. “Alas, Lord God! I do not know how to speak; I am only a child.” (Jeremiah1v7) And God’s response? “Do not say, ‘I am only a child.’ You must go to everyone I send you [...]

11th and 12th January – I’m speaking at the J.C.M (Justice, Compassion, Mercy) school in Auckland. This is run each year by my friend Kerry Hartley, and is a month long missions school. Students come from Asia, Africa, Brazil, China and of course good old NZ. In fact people have been asking, "Are you sure she's even pregnant?' because she looks so small. But today she has started to bag up, and I can squeeze milk from her teat. Tonight she is lying down...

And as all the happenings happen, my garden is beginning to thrive - I even have my first hollyhocks! We've had a house full of visitors staying - still have 18 here at the moment. Christmas was a wonderful celebration of God's gift of the Saviour with

We picked up her pianist Juan Kim (he’s fantastic!) and made the concert hall in plenty of time for them both to warm up. No-one is allowed in the room to listen while the judging [...]
