A New Driver in the House

Last week I took Milly in to sit her restricted driver’s license test. We had been primed to expect a possible fail and were told that they’re failing 70% of people. She was a tad nervous, but I felt she was as good as any of my other children that had passed and didn’t really know what we could do to make her a better driver. So off she went…

They came back an hour later and I saw them sitting in the car having what looked like a serious conversation. Then five minutes later the instructor opened the office door and asked if she could have a word with me outside. She looked so stern. I felt like I’d been called into the jolly headmaster’s office! When I went outside I saw that Milly’s face was flushed and she had tears in her eyes.

I couldn’t believe it when the instructor’s face suddenly beamed and she said, “I just wanted to congratulate you on your daughter’s brilliant test!”

Woohoo!!! Celebration that night! We sent off to the shop to buy some takeaways. Way to go, Milly!

  1. Yay Milly!!! Congratulations! Love from the Crosses…

  2. WooHoo, Milly. Congratulations! Thanks for letting your Mom share the news publicly that you passed the test as an excellent driver. (That also shows maturity as a “senior teen” that you would permit your Mom to tell us.) Keep gaining confidence with every kind of victory. You’re a champion, Milly!
