Thoughts on Children and Ducklings

For what seems like ages three of our Indian Runner ducks have each been sitting on a clutch of eggs. And now I have 24 of the cutest little ducklings you ever did see! They look so gorgeous following their mums through the orchard. They co…me running whenever they see me, ignoring their mums cautionary quacks. But if the mothers make a certain urgent quack they fly back to her! I’ve had to chase away a hawk twice, but so far all babies are still alive and counted for. So, if any of you are looking for some of the cutest ducks around in a few weeks, let me know. Because I don’t really think we need 30+ Indian runner ducks. Here’s Robert Brault’s quotes for the day- thinking about Mama Duck and her babies:

“No child is yet lost for whom a light is kept burning.”

“A child seldom needs a good talking to as a good listening to.”

“Set your hopes for the young no higher than your example.”

“The young do not follow our preachings; they follow us.”

Have a lovely day.
