Martha, Martha

Hi, I’m Rosie Boom. In Luke 10 we read of Jesus visiting his friends, Martha, Mary and Lazarus.

A wonderful event was happening in her home but Martha was distracted by all her preparations. She was flustered and bothered. And she was annoyed at her sister. Mary seemed oblivious to all the work that needed to be done and was just sitting at the feet of Jesus, listening. How could she? Didn’t it occur to her that her sister might want to hear him speak as well?  Didn’t she see all the work that had to be done? But when Martha complained about it to Jesus he said, “Martha, Martha. You’re worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

How easy it is to be like Martha. Busy, busy, busy. Lord, help us to lay down our busyness and sit at your feet.
