A while ago, we celebrated Milly’s 14th birthday. When each child turns 14 we have a special day where people speak into their life and offer words of wisdom. My neice read out a beautiful letter which had written for Emily, and she’s given me permission to put it on my blog. Thanks Hannah!
Dear Emily, You are so blessed to be in a family that places value in teaching – that not only the first daughter but all three of you are being equipped in the art of homemaking. The skills you are learning are setting you up for a good life. You will see this in the future, as one day you will be looking after your own household with neither sister there to do the jobs you never learned now! As you grow in your family, follow this command – “Honour your father and mother that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth!” Ephesians 6 It is a joy to watch you with my little ones…the way you entertain them and the way they respond to you! You are wonderfully patient and cheerful and you will make a joyful mother one day! As you turn 14, I am reminded that when I was 14, I wrote a letter to myself at 21….asking all the questions of life. It was foolish to wait 7 years for answers I needed then, and even more foolish that I asked myself! On that note, Emily, work on being teachable, don’t attempt to learn everything for yourself…one can waste many years that way. You would be wise to understand the lessons from others’ mistakes, without living the heartaches that accompany them. I encourage you to continue living in God’s plan for your life, Millie and never let it go! “I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free!” Psalm 119v32 Much love, Hannah
